So I sent an email throwing my hat into the pool for the job at the firm. Even if I get it I could turn it down like the thunder did.

Taking a look at the man behind the curtain. What is her secret? Via TechLawAdvisor.

Hey, buddy. Wanna buy some rights? If not, how about some basic human rights. Ok, that brings up something I hadn't thought about in a while. I don't believe in human rights other than say a right not to be killed. No right to a job, no right to a job, no right to nada. So it bothers me when people say that there are rights to a job and such. People say things along those lines all the time. The bright-line of at will employment seems to be fading. But I really haven't looked at the issue very closely. What can I say? I am an uninformed american with a blog and an opinion. This post felt almost obligatory after joining a blawg ring. Normally I will not post anything about law or politics, although I am considering posting some poems I wrote during 1L about res ipsa loquitor and such.

Today is March 18th. The bar application is due by March 29th. I have no idea where I have lived for the past 5 years. I don't know who my supervisors were at my temp jobs that I used to have. I don't have any references who aren't classmates, family, or former employers. I am here at 8:30 waiting for 9 to roll around so I can call and leave messages for my former employers to get all the information that I need. Perhaps I shouldn't have waited until the last minute. Nothing like an emergency to bring out my best.

I played golf today for the second time in 5 months. I golfed great! Only 8 over par on 9 holes. I had a birdie that was 14 inches from a hole in one. That wasn't 14 inches to the right or left. It was 14 inches straight on that just needed to roll. It stopped 11 inches from where it hit the green. I had three other pars and several barely bogies. Missy is yelling at me to stop updating my blog and start working on my bar app.

On a positive (maybe) note, I have a job quandry. The firm I am working at now is losing an associate and will be looking to replace her. One of the secretaries came up to me and suggested I apply for the job. The markets is horrible right now. I would have to stay in Eugene despite my hope of moving to Portland and I would have to take on some land use law, which I am not interested in. Please, give me some advice. Do I put my name in the hat or no?

Happy St. Panties Day So, in recognition of my Irish side (Somebody Kiss Me) I am wearing green pants, green underwear (Pool Shark Boxers), a green T-shirt, and green over shirt. Tonight is a St. Panties Day celebration at a local bar. I plan on going. Evidentally, a freepanties.com type of operation is going to be there.

March Madness So its that time of year again. Best time of the year. For those of you who don't know about Bracketville, let me tell you something. Getting an 8 or 9 seed is actually a punishment and getting an 10 or 11 seed is a reward. How is that, you may ask. The winner of the 8-9 game gets to play the 1 seed in the next round. 1 seeds are good. Really good. Best teams in the nation good. Teams with a 10 or 11 seed don't have to play a 1 seed until the Sweet Sixteen. That is a huge advantage because while 2 and 3 seeds are good (this year in the West they are spectacular), they are a notch below the 1 seeds. And the longer you have to wait to play one of these 1 seeds, the better your chance that they lose on the way in a miracle game. Why do I bring this up? Because the Ducks got screwed. They have to play Kentucky in the second round. Kentucky is arguably the best team in the nation and has won like 19 in a row. Good luck on getting to the Sweet Sixteen.
It's Friday Night and I Just Got PAID Actually, it is Monday morning and I only get paid once a month. Friday night I went out to help Jane celebrate her birthday. We drank and played pool and watched as Jane got really drunk. Saturday night was the annual cocktail party. This year's attendance was much lower than normal. Oh well. Afterwards, Wes, Brian, Conrad and I went out to the HBC. I started a conversation with the manager/owner of the HBC and he told us that it brings in $100,000 PROFIT A MONTH. The man is a millionaire, but looks like he is a white trash slumlord. He gave us VIP passes for a video release party. May go, may not. Sunday was fun. First watched the bracket release show (which bummed us out a bit) and then had a live fantasy baseball draft. That was a good time. If you made a bad pick, you had to go get beer for everyone.

It's funny how a talking helicopter can bring it all into perspective. Has it all been done before?

Ok, I have a lot that I want to talk about, but will have to wait, including the following topics: Elizibeth Smart, Oregon Baseball, Oregon Ducks basketball, NFL football, and my weekend.
