"You know the world is off tilt, when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest basketball player is Chinese, and Germany doesn't want to go to war."

-Charles Barkley, former NBA basketball player [via Miss Fenster]

I finally changed Jean's link on the side bar. Just got tired of going there and then clicking over to her journal. Apparently she tired of paying for blogger. She should have stayed and paid so that my free blogging never ends.

DareDevil
This was perhaps the worst comic book movie ever. It included such cheesy lines as "You killed the only two people I ever loved! Why? Why?" and "When good things happen to me I get scared.""I will protect you." There was little to no plot development and little to no character development. Let's go through the characters and talk about each....

DareDevil/Matt Standing up for the little guy is this little guy's mantra? Apparently, even before he was blind and before his dad died, he was a driven kid. "We had an unspoken pact"? C'mon. I am not very good at this, but let's just say that we didn't get a good look at who he was. There was a scene were a girlfriend had broken up with him over an answering machine, and this was about as good an insight at who we were dealing with as the 30 minute intro diatribe.

Electra Nachios The mexican appitizer was appatizing. She was a hotty, but the action scenes were too much and she wasn't given any good lines. She died shortly after realizing that DD was her boyfriend and after she nearly killed him. (speaking of nearly killing him, she stabs him and he collapses and she says "I want to watch you die" yet he was able to magically get up, run across the city, fight Bullseye, fight Kingpin, and go home for a nap. Do you see the plot holes????) There was some potential with the tragedy of the moment, but they didn't exploit it, but rather assumed that our 15 second attention spans couldn't handle it.

Kingpin I went in thinking he was the wrong actor for the part. Then we got into the movie and I was wrong. He was a good Kingpin. Scratch that, he could have been a good Kingpin. Apparently the writers never READ a Daredevil comic book. The Kingpin is supposed to be elegant, calculating, cold, powerful, strong, and always have a plan. He (in the movie) was a thug. Granted he did know that DD was coming for him and had his guards leave. This was very Kingpin. But Kingpin would not have entered that situation without a backup plan. He would have had some escape plan or had someone there on site to help him out or something. Kingpin is strong and can pack a punch, but he is a cold, calculating KINGPIN of crime. He didn't get there by taking chances. Another wasted resource. (sidenote: his assistant was supurbly cast)

The Writer And the point of this character was.....? 'Nuf said.

The other Attorney This was the only character properly developed and he was a bit player. He was funny. He was a good friend. He had high hopes. He knew, but didn't know, that Matt was special. He was honest, but aspired to bigger and better things.

Bullseye A cool villan, but apparently really stupid. He figures out how to hurt DD but then stops for several minutes to brag about how he is going to kill him. Let's not forget his famous lines "You took away my hands" and "He made me miss. I never miss." Did I mention that these writers suck?

I say we start a petition that they never release this piece of crap to video. Barf-O-Rama.

Ok, so my penny plan may not work. I was reading the factoid section of the local humor magazine and it said 25 pennies is legal tender and that 26 was not. Aha!!! Normally, this would not have made sense, but I get it. You can't expect to pay bills with all pennies because anything over 25 pennies is not considered legal tender, and therefore you haven't made an offer of payment. And speaking of Comic News, I just read the last one I will ever read... because they will no longer be free. I like those... They were a weekly treat for me.

Isn't this the plot line of several Star Trek episodes and a movie trilogy?

I just realized its April Fools day. I haven't heard of any big pranks or jokes or what not. I wouldn't have realized had I not just posted something innane.

Ok, I admit it. I have watched an episode or three of American Idol. (all at someone else's house). But I hated one of the contestants. And he's gone!!!!! Whoo Hoo! And now back to my normal, sane life.

So I am getting a call back for the Portland Workman's Comp job. Plus side = Portland and a job. Minus side = its workmans comp and the pay isn't so hot. And my roomie's up for the same job.

Transformer Fan The new breed of warrior goes into war with Iraq. Optimus Prime is in the military. You thought we had a technological advantage before? Wait 'til Prime gets to town. Megatron, I mean Saddam, doesn't have a chance. See alsohis webpage.

I would love to see From my brain as a footnote. I hate having to put a source for everything in a paper.

Update Apparently he deleted that post after I linked it. Bastard. Still, he is from Portland, interested in IP Law, and a 3L, so he can't be all bad.... or can he?

Finally, someone puts the 007 invisible car theory to work in a clothing line. Check it out Ok, ok. It's still in the preliminary stage, but I have my fingers crossed.

An update to the real moon rock that was discovered in a police scam dragnet seeking fake moon rock sellers. Surprise Surprise. An American Judge says the rock belongs to us again.

Grrrrr So I can't figure out how to single space my 51-75 post. My 1-50 post is single spaced using the br command. I am more of a HTML idiot than a savant. (as if you couldn't tell by my page design).

51-75 No content for a week, and tons in a day. What can I say? I run with the tides.

51. I have tried Yahoo personals. Many years ago, but still I did it.

52. I used to collect baseball cards. I often wonder if they are worth anything. I doubt it.

53. I think I have torn both of my rotator cuffs.

54. My first car: Phymouth Valient. I called it the Hooptie.

55. Things I have hit while driving a car: light pole, mail box, bicyclist, bird, a parked car, hundreds of curbs.

56. I play golf. Poorly.

57. I have two credit cards.

58. I recall stealing the following: a stamp, a snickers bar, little plastic menu holders from bars, and a few table number numbers from restruants.

59. I wonder what ever happened to "The Family Guy"

60. I like sushi. Tomago is a great dessert.

61. I rock. Literally. Especially when driving (I think, cause I don't notice it anymore).

62. I have seen a phychiatrist about 61. I was a kid. My parents were worried. Guess what, I am ADHD.

63. Despite the last part of 62, I have never taken drugs for it.

64. I have never done any drugs. (save alcohol)

73. I have a fly-trap. I've had it nearly 2 1/2 years and it still isn't dead. That fact is amazing.

74. I think Seinfeld was a great show. As was Night Court. And Quantum Leap. Along the lines of Quantum Leap, I think The Dead Zone has some great potential. I just found out that the star of The Dead Zone was the geek from the Breakfast Club. I had no clue.

75. Sometimes I am oblivious. See 74.

I'm baaaaaaaacccckkk. So I was away on Spring Break and so much happened. A war for one. Protests. The New Plague. The NCAA Bracket Busting Tourney. Civilization III. Buffy. All these things need to have something said about them.
The War This little post will not do the war justice. I watched hours upon hours of war coverage over the break. I couldn't get enough. It was odd when "the video" was released in that a few hours after its release one of the announcers referred to the video as one "everyone has seen by now". I sat there dumbfounded. I had been watching tv for hours straight and hadn't seen the video. It's like they had their own private club where they watched the video while in commercial but didn't deem it acceptable for national publication. Damn their concern for the families and decency. I am not really sure that I want to see the video, but the point is that we are getting candy coated viewing of this war. For all the talking the networks do for how great this "inserted journalist" phenomena is, we aren't seeing much horror of war. Most of what we see are these buildings in the distance getting blown up. On this note, I have to give the ABC guy who has a latenight news show (I can't recall his name right now) some major props for actually showing dead Iraqi soilders. It brings home that this is war and not a war game.

The Protests Okay there have been a lot of protests. They are big. But they will do nothing. That is what I have to say about that. But they have brought up the topic of nationalism and patriotism. While protesting the war isn't necessarily unpatriotic, I do think that perhaps the signs of "Impeach Bush" and "Bush isn't my president" are a bit unpatriotic. Why? Because they seem to refute the laws of the nation as not right or not worthy of controlling. Just one man's opinion.

The Plague I am surprised this isn't getting more coverage. I am sorry, an incurable disease that is spread like a cold that can kill and can possible survive outside the body, thereby being spread through time displaced contact of surfaces, should get more than a blurb saying people in Asia are dying. More people have died from this than Americans have been killed in combat in this war.

NCAA Tourney Who could have guessed this Final Four? Most of my teams were out before the Elite Eight. I was like 5th place after the first weekend. of the tourney, but am now like 5th from the bottom. Oh well. There goes $15 bucks that I borrowed from the government.

Civ III So I bought Civ III at the begining of Spring Break and spent hours upon hours playing it over the break. It is an addictive game and is very good. If you liked Civ I, you'll love Civ III. More complex, more societies, and better transfer through time. I really could talk about this for a while, but no one cares.

Buffy I really didn't like the last episode. Giles was not his usual self. Buffy remained stubborn and judgmental. Other that that it was good. Those two things really stuck out at me. All of my female friends loved it because they love Spike, but that is another post altogether.

Ok, at least I have hit the major things I missed. I hope to put more detailed, thoughtful posts in the near future, but given my past, it probably won't happen.
