The New Black Jack

So this article explains why I saw so many blackjack tables that paid 6:5 for blackjack. Normally, the game is set so that a blackjack pays 3:2 (i.e. 6:4). Apparently this slight shift makes the game 10x worse than normal blackjack. Had I known that I wouldn't have been playing. The sucky thing is, this article suggests that only single deck games use this. Wrong, O'Shea's was using this pay scale for a 6-deck game. We were really getting screwed.

Okay, can you tell I have gambling on the brain?

Poker Diary

So, I decided to keep a diary of my losses and gains. Every time I play poker I will record it. The buy in, the type of game, how long I played, how much I gained or lossed, how I lost if I did, and so forth. Today, I played primarily $10 tournament games at Paradise Poker. I played a total of 6 tournaments, and finished in the money in all 6 with two first place finishes. I was up 134.49 for the day. Not to shabby. My internal clock is all messed up, but I am going to try to sleep.

Night all.

Viva Las Vegas

So I just returned from Vegas and watching the World Series of Poker. It will be interesting to see how the entire event comes out on the ESPN version begining in 2 months. Anyway, I met lots of famous poker players and hope to post pictures of them soon. My sleep cycle is a bit off as I stayed up until after sunrise at least three times. I got a bit more than 15 hours of sleep in my time there (4 days) and didn't go to bed last night until I got on the plane to come home.

The Tourney: What is there to say that hasn't been said elsewhere. Apparently something about the way it ended made David Williams up-set. He and his friends were having a serious conversation with one of the promoters after it was over and he didn't want to come out to handle questions. The crowds were overwhelming and being there meant I watched primarily on monitors what was happening, which was not very easy since until the final day there wasn't an announcer, and even if the final day it wasn't great. Seems that the room wasn't big enough for the crowds. There were lines to get in to sit in the same room when similar monitors were throughout the casino.

Oh, I wanted to link to this, a map of the country based on the most popular reference for pop/soda/coke. I mingle between pop and coke.
