Why U-Bank is Craptacular
So, more than a month ago, I accidentally left my ATM/Debit card in one of the ATM's. I called the next day and asked that they ship a replacement to the branch nearest my apartment. I went to that Branch only to find out that it's not open on Saturday's nor after 5 pm. This basically meant that I wouldn't be able to get my card for weeks. Had I only known I would have left it at that. (I guess I should mention that I also told them that I wanted them to call my cel and to keep the PIN the same. They called my parents place, not my cel and they sent to my parents place a new PIN.) So I called back and asked it to be shipped to the bank right next to my office. That was 3 weeks ago. Still hasn't arrived. I've spent now hours on the phone trying to get this taken care of. They said it would be here by Tuesday. Granted we had bad weather on Tuesday, but its still not here on Friday! And when I called, they had no idea of what was going on AND they had charged my account for the deliveries that had never arrived and were rushed BECAUSE OF THEIR INCOMPETENCE!!!! I am a bit steamed right now.

So, Remning Cheng has sent me another letter about the Battleship I mentioned below. At the end of the letter, they asked that I keep part of it confidential. I understand why now. Evidentally, the people at Commercial Metals are keeping tabs on them. I actually have had several people come by looking for info on ol' Remning. Anyway, so Remning is keeping me up to date on the Battleship. There appear to be two contracts out there for the sale of it and two more (at least) groups interested in the Battleship and the price looks to be in the 5-7 million dollar range. Not that anyone cares about a random battleship for sale, but here I am. Your one stop shopping information site.

The Weather outside is frightful
So, I have missed the last two days of work due to the winter storm that has hit the Portland area. I cleaned the ice off my car today. There was a layer of ice an inch thick on top of the powdery snow that was already there. Anyway, missing two days of work may sound all well and good, but as an attorney, I am measured by my hours. I just missed out on 16 hours of work that I am going to have to make up later. It was like a vacation that was forced upon me that I didn't want at a time I didn't want with nothing to do. Gah. Sucks. You work so hard to get to where you'd hope you wouldn't have to work so hard, but now you have to work harder.

Life, as they say, is not always fair.

E-Mail I recieved in Response to a Question about a BATTLESHIP for sale on E-bay (The sale was taken off E-bay mid-day Friday)

Hello,
I talked to the owner s agent on the phone both yesterday and today (Saturday).

The situation on the vessel is as follows:

1. There are two contracts on the vessels already. But one is subject to inspection which was supposed to be done before Christmas, but was delayed. The other one I understand has payment set at end of the month, so the deal also has subjectivity. The owner would like to wait and give you a chance. So no one will get to buy the vessel before your decision. At $6.2 mill USD the vessel will be yours. The world s first aircraft carrier sold to private interest.
2. But the condition is an immediate sale and the owner is not interested in any kind of negotiation on price or anything else. The vessel will be sold AS IS, WHERE IS.
If you are the first one to do the payment, as you said within 7 days, the vessel is yours.
After the 7 days, the vessel will be sold to someone else.

3. The vessel has clean title, no debts or lien whatsoever.

4. The owner is now in Rio on holiday until Thursday 8th. He will be able to meet us in Rio before or after the inspection, if we arrive there before the 8th. We should be able to hammer the deal during the meeting.

5. Maybe you want to know this: there are several buyers want to do inspection now, but you are the first one get to see the vessel, although a guy in Taiwan will pay a higher price. I trust you are the one who wants to get the deal done real fast.

6. You can chose either to transfer today $2,000 USD to our bank account in Oslo, Norway with the bank account No. 6094 12 52357 or pay me when we meet in Rio. I need it before the inspection. We normally ask clients transfer money to our bank account, but since we have not done business together, we made this alternative for you.

If you think the above is acceptable, I will have to inform the owner s agent at once.

Note that the Question I originally asked was "Where is the Battleship?" and that wasn't answered.

This may be the biggest news of the New Year. This link apparently proves that the media is controlled by a central location. To the extent the the powers that be don't want this proof spread, I would imagine that the link will be taken down eventually. For a saved screen image, see Mr. Poon. Again, I repeat, the Washington Post may be a puppet of some shadow government.
