Portland Pillow Fight

Imagine... the city of Portland's city center at 6:59 pm on a Friday night. Fifteen minutes earlier, the Pioneer Plaza was starting to gather a crowd, but now, 6:59, the place is packed with people carrying backpacks or who look fat. Some are wearing costumes. You notice a lot of people around the edges carrying cameras. The clock strikes 7:00pm and everyone else suddenly whips out a pillow and a massive 500 person pillow fight ensues. Feathers fill the air as pillows are destroyed. Cheers and jeers fly from the crowd as the game is started and paused. You might consider how much exercise a pillow fight lasting 20 minutes or longer can be. But the game lasted and lasted, pausing and restarting several times.

It was a blast. Several hundred people having a spontaneous pillow fight. I will update this post as I find more on the web about it.
A slideshow of pics of the fight
A myspace page on it.

I hope to have KGW's video footage link soon with my friend Stuart Smith in the background.

UPDATE: Wikipedia entry on pillow fight mobbing.
