American Values: You can kill our whores, just don't have sex with them!

So, Rock Star Games is getting sued over the hidden sex mini-game in the Grand Theft Auto San Andreas game. Why? Because it would have been rated for Adults only had this crack edit been known about. First off, the game was out for months and months before anyone knew this outside of a few programmers at Rock Star. Second, might I remind you that this is a game wherein you kill other people in many differing ways? Must I also remind you that the name of the game describes one of the things you do often: Steal cars?

This reminds me of when the boys of South Park got ninja weapons, threw a throwing star into Butters' head, and the city got upset instead that Cartman walked around naked. It also reminds me of Larry Flynt. Okay, no it doesn't, but this article cites the "recent" Larry Flynt movie in its discussion of our taboo towards sex over violence. That article makes some good points at the end about how sex is something we primally crave, while violence is something we primally avoid. But doesn't this mean that if we primally crave sex, then it should not be a bad thing to see, and if we primally don't crave violence it should be the taboo? Aren't we then just punishing ourselves?

Hmm...

I guess its just okay to dream about killing whores than to dream about sleeping with them.
