I know of two Congressmen that need to have a swift kick to the head

So they want to spend federal money on protecting pets. How many people could have been saved if this had been done before, they ask, in referring to the idiots who stayed behind because of their pets. My answer - does it matter how many people who put their lives at risk for a poodle are saved? Aren't we better off not encouraging people to put their possessions before their safety? Next they will want to make provisions that federal dollars should be spent on planning how to get people to evacuate who don't want to leave their crystal animal collection behind.

Arrrggh... I guess I just don't get pet people. Sure, take a moment and put the poodle in a purse and take it with you, scoop your guppies into a bag and take them with you, whatever. But if you might die by staying, how does that help your pets?
